A ROCK-SOLID CHARACTER
(Don’t Change Your Good Behaviour)
TO THE BIBLE: Romans 12:2 GNB
“Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.”
Barbara noticed each time she greeted Elsie, lately she got the cold shoulder response. Nevertheless, she made up her mind not to quit greeting and being nice to her, hoping that sooner or later Elsie would come around. And sure enough, after some time, Elsie thawed and started responding positively towards Barbara.
Unlike Barbara, there are many people who would make a contrary decision. They’d allow their good character be negatively influenced by the bad behavior or ill-treatment received from others. That someone didn’t respond nicely when you greeted them isn’t enough reason for you to react negatively.
Ask yourself: “Was it right to do what I did?” If it was, then you shouldn’t stop doing what’s right, just because someone else doesn’t like it. Maintain your good character, and don’t allow your personality become corrupted by the negative actions or comments of others. Rather, respond in love towards them and just keep being nice, loving, and caring. That way, you’ll be protecting your spirit and promoting love, harmony and unity.
Go Deeper: Philippians 2:15
I refuse to allow the negative attitude of others rub off on me. Rather, I choose to do the Word by responding to them in love.
