Jesus is More Than Enough by Paul Adefarasin” is a message by Senior Pastor of House on The Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin in his “Something is about to happen” series. The text is taken from Hebrews 12: 14-29, Galatians 5: 3-4.
“And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.”
The children of Israel complained and murmured throughout their journey from Egypt to Sinai. But God kept blessing them over and over again because God was not dealing with them according to their performance, obedience or disobedience but according to his nature and promises. It was a period and season of grace until the children of Israel took pride in themselves and said to God that they will do everything he asked of them. We can’t accomplish or do anything that God says in our own strength or the ability of our own persons because everything that God wills for us to do he supplies the strength.
Depend On Grace
Everybody has at some point in time fell from grace. The moment you stop depending on grace you start becoming attracted to sin. But when you stop depending on self-effort and on performance, you become attracted to godliness and holiness. God makes a difference between you and others, then truth becomes attractive to you.
The Law Cannot Produce Transformation
Without laws, there is no sin. If there are no laws given then there’s no strength given to sin. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The law is holy and the commandment is righteous, it doesn’t have the power to make you holy but it is like a mirror, it shows you your weakness. The law is impotent to produce transformation in a person’s life.
The law was weak, hence, God sent Jesus in his likeness to condemn sin. We rejoice in Christ Jesus and we put no confidence in the flesh, in other words, we don’t depend on self-effort or performance to earn or gain anything from God. The real believers are the ones the Spirit of God leads. Satan never tempts man beyond the law, he never tempted Adam and Eve beyond the law, which was “Don’t touch the fruit that is forbidden, don’t eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
it, if you do, you will surely die.”
