LEAVE THE PAST BEHIND
(Look Forward To Your Glorious Future)
TO THE BIBLE: Philippians 3:12-13 TLB
“I don’t mean to say I am perfect. I haven’t learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be. No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Are you bound to your past? Do you feel cheerful one minute, and then sad and gloomy the next, because you remember some unpleasant event from your past? Well, you shouldn’t. Holding on to memories from your past and allowing them affect you will hold you back from enjoying the present and future.
Take a look at the Apostle Paul. He never allowed himself to be hindered or limited by the wrongs he had done in the past. He realised that those memories weren’t worth holding on to, because they couldn’t be compared to the glorious future God had prepared for him. Even past victories and accomplishments didn’t stop him from pressing for greater heights! Isn’t that inspiring?
You’ve got to realise that your future is greater than your past, and your life as a Christian ought to be upward and forward. You were born to go from one level of glory to a higher level. Therefore, break loose from the hold of your past, and press on into your glorious future in Christ!
My mind is renewed through God’s Word, and my spirit is enlightened to always see my glorious future and the greatness which God has designed to be my day-to-day experience in Christ!
