Make Definite Requests In Prayer

BE SPECIFIC

(Make Definite Requests In Prayer)

You have to be definite when making requests of the Lord in prayer; be specific and say exactly what you want.

To The Bible Philippians 4:6 AMP

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”

LET’S TALK

Some people don’t know how to make definite requests to God in their times of need. All they do is complain while praying, and they wonder why their prayers go unanswered. If you’re going to take advantage of God’s extraordinary power in overcoming life’s challenges, you’ve got to be specific in your prayer.

Mark 10:47-52 tells the story of Bartimaeus, a blind man who, when he heard Jesus was passing by, cried out to Him to have mercy on him. Naturally, you would have expected the Master to approach Bartimaeus and heal him of his blindness, but He didn’t! Rather, He asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” Interesting, isn’t it? Even though it was obvious the man was blind, Jesus still wanted him to express his desire in specific terms. So Bartimaeus responded, “I want to receive my sight.” The Lord’s subsequent statement was, “Receive your sight!” and Bartimaeus was miraculously healed.

God doesn’t want you crying or complaining about your situation, but expressing your specific desires when you pray. When you make definite requests of the Lord, give Him glory and keep your switch of faith turned on. Act like Abraham, who “…staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform” (Romans 4:20-21).
