RECOGNIZE OPPORTUNITY AND TAKE IT!

TO THE BIBLE: Mark 10:46-49

‘…Blind Bartimaeus… sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”’

LET’S TALK

Mark chapter 10 tells the story of blind Bartimaeus who heard Jesus passing by as he sat begging by the roadside. He realized this was his opportunity to be healed and he knew he had to resist anyone that would stop him from seizing it. Not even the shouts from the crowd for him to keep quiet would deter him. If anything, they fuelled his determination to get what he wanted from God. The Living Bible says, “When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here” (Mark 10:49). Glory to God!

That was Bartimaeus’ moment and his response was immediate; he “…yanked off his old coat and flung it aside, jumped up and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked.

“O Teacher”, the blind man said, “I want to see!”

And Jesus said to him, “All right, it’s done. Your faith has healed you.”

And instantly the blind man could see and followed Jesus down the road” (Mark 10:51-52 TLB). Hallelujah!

God will always bring those special, divine opportunities your way, but how you recognize and seize those opportunities is what determines how much you profit and succeed by them. You will make the most of these God-given opportunities when you have the knowledge of the truth in you and respond quickly in faith like Bartimaeus did.
