TO THE BIBLE: Numbers 11:11-12 MSG

‘Moses said to GOD, “Why are you treating me this way? What did I ever do to you to deserve this? Did I conceive them? Was I their mother? So why dump the responsibility of this people on me? Why tell me to carry them around like a nursing mother, carry them all the way to the land you promised to their ancestors?”’

“These politicians and government officials are so insincere: they’re only interested in power tussles and embezzling money. They don’t care about helping us ordinary people,” James lamented.

“Yeah right, as though they’re responsible for you personally,” Harry interjected.

“What do you think, Robert?” Josephine asked.

“Rather than blaming anyone for not doing things for us, I think we should adopt John F. Kennedy’s thinking when he said, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country,’” Robert replied.

As God’s child, you shouldn’t join those who blame the government for not providing everything for them. Don’t whine like others do when things don’t go their way; instead learn to hold yourself responsible, and not somebody else. Wherever you’ve found yourself today isn’t a problem; it’s what you do with the situation you’re faced with that matters. It doesn’t matter how you were born or brought up. What’s important now is how you live the rest of your life. Now that you’ve arrived on the scene, what positive changes will you make?

One of the principles of success is to look out for a human need and reach out to meet it. You should think differently from others, and God’s Word can help you gain the right mindset. Refuse to think small or be small. If you would use your mind right, there’s so much God has placed inside you to benefit your world. So don’t be spectators in the world; make a positive impact in it! You’re responsible for who you are today and what you’ll become tomorrow.

I take up responsibility today for the progress of my neighborhood, country, and nation at large. I don’t point fingers or lay blames, rather I join in building up my community and I’m strengthened by the Spirit to make my world a better place, in Jesus’ Name.

What contributions can you make to your society? Write them down here, and ask the Lord to help you carry them out.
